Overview

We used to be known as Hackney Business Venture, and changed our name to HBV Enterprise in 2000. We have been helping and advising all types of enterprise and self-employed people for 25 years. Watch our video here.

We are part of a national group of independent agencies that last year provided over 140,000 business advice sessions, helped over 100,000 enterprises and supported over 20,000 business start-ups. For more information click here.

Our offer is independent, quality assured, client focused consultancy, training, funding and advice. This is designed to help people from Hackney and, where eligible, all over London to start, fund and grow businesses. Click here for more.

We are a community based 'not for profit' charity. We are commercially run; we aim to make surpluses and believe all well-run enterprises should do the same. We don’t make donations, or pay dividends to shareholders. Instead, we use our surpluses to survive, grow, and develop new services to support our mission.

Our funding comes from government, sponsors and fees paid to us by clients. Read about who we work with here and our charging policy here.

Governance – who runs us?

The company is run by a board of trustee directors, and subject to company law and Charities Commission regulation. Our accounts are externally audited and filed at Companies House every year, and our delivery is open to funder review.

Our Commitment to Quality
We are totally committed to quality. We achieve this by being accredited to the standards and bodies shown on our home page. Click there for more information.
