HBV Wins National Enterprise Award 17 September 2009: Hot on the heels of being named as an "Exemplar Enterprise Agency" by Customer First at the end of July, we continued our winning streak by scooping " Barclay’s Let’s Talk Contractor of the Year" at last night's National Enterprise Awards in York. HBV launches Business Recovery Service 12 June 2009: HBV Enterprise this week launched an important new service aimed at supporting enterprises with advice on how to cope with the recession. The service aims to support commercial and/or social (not for profit) enterprises that have employees, in order to help them safeguard local jobs. Free of charge to users, the service is part-funded by the City of London Corporation as part of its commitment to supporting its neighbours through the economic downturn. Lemon Monkey, Cafe Oto, Ryan Frank and Jujo recognised at the Mayor of Hackney's Business Awards 2009 6 May 2009: 'Best Women's Business 2009' won by an HBV client two years running. Congratulations to partners Joanna Lemonnier and Katherine Tasker, Directors of Lemon Monkey, who were one of the joint winners for 'Best Women's Business 2009'. 'Best Young Entrepreneur 2009' went to Hamish Dunbar and his partner who are owners of Cafe Oto, they were also nominated for 'Best New Start-Up 2009'. Ryan Frank was nominated for two awards. He was highly commended for 'Best Product Design 2009 'and lost out to Joe Michaels of Jujo for 'Best Environmental Practice 2009'. Joe came close last year in the same category, but found better fortune this time around. All the award nominees gathered for a great evening at the Shoreditch Town Hall, which included an upbeat reminder from the host, Mayor Jules Pipe, about how great a place Hackney is to do business in. Crime is down, we have a vibrant multicultural mix, we're finally getting much improved transport links, are right on the doorstep of the City of London (one of the biggest markets in the world) and there will be opportunities for business from the regeneration attached to the 2012 Olympics. Barclays Trading Places Awards 2009 22 April 2009: Last year, local entrepreneurs Sev Necati, womens safety guru, and Remy Zentar, owner of quality deli L'Epicerie@56 made London's top ten in the Barclays Trading Places Competition, with Remy progressing to the national finals. Well done! This year could be your opportunity to be in with a winning chance. Enterprises actively trading for less than three years on 30 March 2009 are eligable to enter for the awards, which feature an overall prize fund totalling £45,000. Last but not least, local hospitality, events and conference specialists City Edge were nominated for 'Best in the Business.' Dragons' Den invites applications from HBV clients and offers them top tips for success 27 March 2008: BBC's Dragons' Den has again asked HBV Enterprise to encourage investment-ready entrepreneurs to apply for a place in their new series. HBV Releases success data for 'New Entrepreneur Scholarships' 10 January 2008: The Learning and Skills Council today released details of the success of the New Entrepreneur Scholarships (NES) programme. Read more here. Locally, demand for the programme is often five times the number of support places available; a success in itself, although disappointing for candidates whose applications are not successful. HBV Enterprise has been managing the programme locally since 2002, during which over 250 budding entrepreneurs have won places and enrolled. 17 December 2007: A year ago, we were congratulating local girl Leona Lewis on winning the X factor, and launching our Women's Enterprise Service. Now Leona is selling albums by the bucket load. Well done Leona! We think Leona can inspire Hackney women to achieve their dreams.
